So I went to Walmart a couple days ago... Went to the bettas and found a male and a female in the same cup. The same cup. And right above it was a empty cup. There was a walmart employee right there and I showed her this. She said, "That's how they come. I just scoop them out." She probably thought she knew more because I am very young. And then I saw a betta cup on the top shelf. There was a betta, dead and rotting, in it. THE WATER LOOKED LIKE APPLE JUICE. I pouinted this out to the employee. "That's not my job hun." And she walked off.
That IS her job, I'd call the manager and loose it.
When I worked at Walmart as a Cashier, I had to do everything. At WalMart you don't have one job, you do as your told. Only part of the store that's a single job is shoes, because it's owned by another company. So yes, it was her job and she needed a root in the bottom. I would went for the manager right there, age doesn't matter ;)
i would have saved the poor babies. D: complained to the manager somethin' fierce. poor babies. D: yeah, call the manager, tell him/her what you saw, and complain about the attitude that employee had. if she 'scoops them out', she's supposed to change the water as well.
x: i've been known to get bettas anyways, despite not having a good-sized tank at the moment. when i got King Steve(my walmart's LAST betta. >:3), i just had a one-gallon tank. i had to clean the 10 gallon before i put him in it. x: i've also gotten a betta and only had a half-gallon tank at the time. xD
Small tanks are ok if you need a little time to get a bigger tank :) At least I think so anyways, better than a dirty cup. As long as it's not a full time thing, stick them in something clean and bigger than a cup until you can get a tank :)
Freya, the one who lived in teh half-gallon, lived in that till she was bigger. she was a teeny thing, barely bigger than a neon! she LOVED her two-gallon, when i got it for her! <3 and, King Steve is King of a 10 gallon palace. :3
Don't even bother to talk to the manager. E mail corperate. I just did that with Petsmart about the blue water and they got back to me right away. But if you do e mail corperate, BE POLITE. Ranting and raving won't get you anywhere.
I've noticed at a Walmart near me that they don't even bother putting out the betta anymore. Sure, they have the SKU there but they have other fishy items where the betta should be. At other stores though it's still pretty bad. There is one guy that works there that works TIRELESSLY on the tanks, but not so much on the betta... :/
I've seen Bettas in conditions like that twice. Sometimes I go to the pet store and witness shocked/shaken up Bettas, neither are good. When I saw the conditions that those said fish were in, I actually talked to some management into letting me have them for free. So, that's pretty cool.
