I have a couple of polished (both sides) abalone shells I'd like to use to help cover the floor of my bare-bottom tank, but I'm leery of using a calcium-based element in my hardscape. Should I be concerned? Thank you.

I believe that the calcium in the seashells can cause the PH of your water to spike over time..which could be bad for your fish. I dont have any personal experience with using shells in freshwater though, that is just what I have read so I try to stick with freshwater items mostly.
