Exclamation Out of bowl

I am a complete newbie to Betta's. Found our boy on the counter this morning, I thought he was dead at first but when I went to pick him up he wiggled, so I put him back in his bowl. That was about 3 hours ago. He can get around but it seems to take more effort. What, if anything, can I / should I do for him?

I'd just let him rest. Maybe lower the water level a bit so that he can easily get to the top to breathe. Keep the tank dark so that he does not get stressed out.

And get a lid for next time. :)

Thank you for your reply. It's a rather odd shaped bowl (looks like a big fish with the opening where the mouth would be) so I'll have to think how to cover that.

You could use saran wrap and poke holes in it

Welcom to TFK.

Looks like plastic wrap with holes poked in it may be the only way to cover the bowl. Did you get the bowl for your betta? Bettas do well in a bigger tank (I've had one in a 5 gallon) with a cover because, as you found out, they can jump out I see that you are in California, so maybe the air temp is warm, but usually a heater helps your betta to feel comfortable (around 80F).
