Unhappy His Tail!

Hi guys! I need your help. My Hunter's tail seems to have been "shredded" in a way :( What do you think could have possibly happened to him? Here is a picture of him when I first got him, and then a picture of how he looks now.
Before:

After: :(

And here is a picture of his home:

It'd be great if you guys could tell me what happened to him ASAP ):

he's been nipping his own tail. x: how's the current in his tank? do you ever move his decor around at all, or does it stay the same ever water change?

I change it around every water change, I was actually doing a water change when I took that picture, that's why the water level seems so low :P

My betta fish Poseidon. Oh, is that the cause of it? Should I like put a paper there so they can't see each other?

that's what i'd do. Poseidon may be stressing him out alot. x: my delta, Ichi, never bit his tail, until the divider between his tank, and my orange CT Zidane's tank, was moved, and he could see Zidane. it stressed him out enough that he started nipping his tail.

Does he have a heater in there? I know some bettas don't do so well when stressed, and sometimes poor water quality or temperature can be enough of a stress factor.
