routine use of IAL?

I got some Indian Almond leaves to help an ailing betta and i'm wondering about just always using it--or oak leaves or rooibos tea--in the tanks. I like the way it looks (I left the leaf in long enough for the water to be tinted amber) and the fish seem very happy with it. Do any of you do this? Any down sides?

Thanks,
Kumi

You can always use almond leaves, I had planned to use it all the time in my aquariums, but whenever I took photo's of my fish my tank looked dirty lol.
