What are the possible outcomes? He's a Double Tail Halfmoon, she's a Veiltail.

Originally she was bought to breed with Jazz {see av} but he's being stubborn so I'm working on reconditioning him. But in the meantime she's plump with eggs I'd rather not waste. It'll be about 2 weeks; he's got to be conditioned and is new... but what are my possible outcomes? I'm not super familiar with Betta cross-breeding outcomes.

Also, is it true that Jazz might not be responding to Alma because she's such a dark color?

Veiltail is dominate so you'll get all VT's, some may have a larger dorsal because of the doubletail. If you want DT you'll need to find a HM female that carries DT. That is called DT geno. You really don't want to breed 2 DT's together because of the risk of deformities. As far as color goes I would expect multi colors.

Cool, thanks. I like VTs so I'm fine with that. :) And I've heard about the risks of breeding two DTs, so I steered clear of DT females. I didn't know he was a DT til I had him in my hands and set to buy him. I noticed it was labeled on the cup that he was a DT, and sure enough, there's a split if I look close while he's swimming.

IMO, light colored males will respond to dark females. But in terms of mentality, light colored bettas often stress against dark colored males.

As for out comes, I agree with Pitgurl - you won't get HM. color: you'll get turquoise, steel blue and blue (if there's no red in their back ground)
