My first Betta! Introducing Mr. Feisty the Crowntail

Okay, that isn't really his name, we're still getting to know each other.

When I first saw him he had built a bubblenest in his little cube and was flaring at his neighbours, my finger, and basically everything and anything that moved. I could almost hear him yelling "I'll take all of you at once!!!"

During the acclimatization period, he was raring to get out of his baggie. I think he's an over-achiever. Right now I've got the lights off and have designated his tank area a no-fly zone for the rest of my clan. I can still see him from the couch, and he's quite busily exploring the tank.

Anyways, here's a not very good picture of him. After he's had time to recuperate I'll turn the light on and take a better picture; probably tomorrow.

Thank you! :D

It's like he has a Napolean complex. Zipping around the tank, exploring, taking names. Every time I get close to the tank, he starts flapping his mouth trying to get at me. I swear he's saying "GRAAAAWWRRRR!"

I couldn't wait until the morning. He's been showing no signs of stress and gobbled up the two teeny pellets I offered.

Okay, here's a slightly better pic. He's a quick little booger and this was the only one I managed to take when he was sitting still.

And here he is twisting around to look at me. He's saying "stop takin' pictures, woman, and get me some grub!"

Thank you! :D

His first day in his new home seems to have gone well. He's a lot more calm - it's like he was in constant fight mode at the LFS. No doubt because he was wedged in the middle of all the other betta bowls. Now that he has a big pad to himself and only the mirror fishy to fight, he's chillaxin' and exploring.

He gave me a scare when I couldn't find him this afternoon. He had managed to stuff himself in amongst the leaves of the small silk plant at the front. He wriggled around, gave me a "whut?" look, and then swam off like nothing was wrong.

He also finally has a name - Flambé Matchstick Bombchu - or Flambé for short. We couldn't decide between those names so he got stuck with all three.

Here he is in front of his arch (which he swam through for the first time today). If you listen very closely, you can hear him saying "MOAR??"

Congrats on your new addiction...I mean addition! lol. but seriously, it becomes an addiction O_o. Anywho! I love his personality and colors! Tiberius acted somewhat like that when I got him. He kept flaring at the other fishys like he was saying "Just do it...I dare you" lol. As I was reading through the posts I thought you should call him Napolean but what you called him works too ;)
