Female betta and guppies

I have a co-worker that has a female guppy that let loose a lot of little fry and she is eager to get rid of some.
I kinda like guppies, cute and small and easy to care for, and I was wondering if it would be ok for me to put a few (like 2) in my 5gal with my female betta.
She's pretty mellow and I figure since she's a female she won't be "intimidated or threatened" by a couple of guppies.
Also my tank will be well planted.
Is this just a horrid idea?
Or do you think it'll be alright?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the guppy fry are small enough I would add a couple for food the Betta can eat, hunt...etc....otherwise, the 5gal is not big enough to support more fish along with the Betta.....

Mkay. :)
She doesn't want to "sacrifice" any (I already offered) so I'll tell her definitely no.
In a bigger tank do you think it would work?

I have never had any issues with keeping adult Bettas and fancy guppies in the same tank 20gal or larger....never tried 10-15gal other than guppy fry and Betta fry together....it seems to help growth/development in the Betta fry and can help speed Betta fry up in regards to eating processed foods.....the guppies teach them.....or at least that is my theory......lol.....

I have had a female betta in a 10 gal. with guppies in the past without any problems. She was my "population control" - LOL!!!
