Nah, they actually get pretty territorial, they're solitary except when they bask and mate. :D

Here's pictures of my hermit crab tank. It's a 55 gallon but I want to go up to a 90 or even bigger if I ever get the money. There's 12 of them in there, 4 large and the rest medium. :)

Here's one of them climbing around near the moss pit:

And one of them eating from the seaweed and sardine platter I hid in the trees. -lol-

That looks so amazing! Do hermit crabs stay on the land most of the time?
And how do they climb all that? D: Awesome!

Do your hermit crabs have salt water? I heard they need salt water

These are land hermit crabs. That's what she/he has. Not aquatic ones. There are, however, salt water hermit crabs.

ALL hermit crabs need access to salt water for flushing out their shells and drinking on occasion, but some need it more than others. I have Ecuadorian crabs and Purple Pincher crabs. The Ecuadorians spend a lot more time around the salt water than the PPs do. I watched my Eckie go for a "swim" just yesterday -lol-

Hermit crabs are also known as tree crabs and they spend most of their day huddled up together in the trees on the beach in the wild. My cast (a group of hermit crabs is called a "cast" - isn't that funny?) gather up in the highest corners together and sleep in the branches as a group. It's very cute. :)

I also wanted to post this while I was here. It's a 30 gallon tank for a pair of breeding angels I used to have. They've both since passed on of old age. :(
