Trying to figure out what he had

My betta Floaty died last night, and I'm trying to figure out what he had. We recently went on vacation and I found him dead when I got back. He was floating liek an arrow, his head towards the surface. His gills were raised. When I poked him he didn't move, so I figured he was dead. He's still in his bowl, I haven't gotten around to flushing him yet.

Can anyone tell me what he had? Thanks :(

A) DO not flush him, what ever he had could be contagious to the water supply

B) tank temp, how long u were gone and he is in a bowl so im assuming no filter?

We were gone two days, and yes. No filter sadly.

He was looking..... Off right before we left. I fihured he'd be fine, you know, like he'd live fine throug the weekend. I don't know what the temp was, but it was colder than usual. My other older, and healthier betta did fine though,

Man, I was just about to flush. Thank god you posted that

Oh gosh, what if it was TB? He's been acting like this every since I got him like a year and a half ago. How long does it take to kill a fish? My other betta "Sparky" is in the same room, and acting fine.

If it was TB, how can I get rid of him with spoiling the water system, and me not getting it?

Does he have lesions all over his body, like big open sores? If not, it's not TB. Sparky should be fine. There's no real reason why Floaty would get TB anyway, that's usually do to severe overcrowding and super poor water conditions. The fish get big lesions and open sores and often their back is deformed into a weird boomerang shape.

Usually a drop in temp is not fatal to a betta as long as the drop is gradual. When was the last time you changed Floaty's water and was anyone feeding him while you were gone?

We were all gone so no, and it was quite awhile ago. I ran out of water conditioner and couldn't change it.
