Hi! So, I got my betta fish two or three weeks ago, and this is my second betta fish named Mr. Jingles. My first betta fish named Tobi had a big goldfish bowl, but I bought a new betta fish kit for Mr. Jingles.It is a medium sized container thing and it came with decorations such as rocks and gravel, and I bought a light for it and stuff, but then I was studying bettas on the computer and it said that I need a tall plant to make sure that my betta doesn't jump out, and now I'm scared that he might jump out!! Do I REALLY need a tall plant to prevent him from jumping, or am I OK for now?

They usually don't jump too often. If your that worried just make sure the top is covered C:

I have honestly never met a betta that doesn't love to jump. I don't see how a tall plant would prevent it though..you can use seran plastic wrap with holes poked in it over the top of fishbowls to prevent bettas from jumping out. :)

If you use saran wrap make sure to poke air holes so the fish can get air. One of our members made a cover for her bowl out of plastic canvas. It turned out really nice.

i use the red mesh that you get when you buy the bags of oranges or freeze pops. x: just rubber band it over the lid, and you can easily feed him, and he won't jump out.

i really dont know how a plant would help. you could make your own top just like the other members have posted, but i really think that if your betta jumps or not its based on their personality. none of my bettas have ever jumped, but like i said, personality. hope things work well:)

Wouldn't a tall plant that keeps your betta from jumping out also limit the fish's access to the surface for air?
