Constipation?

I think my new betta is constipated. :( His belly is bloated and he hasn't had an poopies, he also floats to the surface like a cork. I've read and I know how to treat it: Fast, pea then Epsom salt if all else fails. But what confuses me is that at night 11pm-ish he seems fine! Not bloated, he's not floating at the surface, but the next morning he's back bloated!

Anywho, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem where it gets better at night, but back to the same the next day.

Sorry this is so late. I just now saw this post.It sounds like swimbladder disorder. I had a betta that had the same problem. He had it off and on until he died. He was fine except for floating off and on.Mine had it as a result of an injury, I believe. He was my cousin's fish and he got knocked to the floor by their cat. If he's not pooping he's probably constipated. You might try fasting for a few days then feeding him some daphnia, freeze dried or frozen.

I would try fasting and epsom together just to help him maybe poop if he has to. 1 tsp/gal for the epsom salt.

If you're going to do peas, then make sure there's no salt added. I've never heard of peas working though, and it seems like it would just add to his bloating to feed him pieces of those.
