I'm sorry your little guy isn't eating! He doesn't look bloated to me, which is good! It sounds like this might be stress related, making more hiding places and putting alot of plants up along the divider (so the bettas can't see eachother) will help alot! Also, 100% water changes a very stressful on bettas, but hopefully when you get your cloudy-water issue fixed then you'll be able to cut back to one 50-75% weekly with gravel siphoning. Are you removing his uneaten food??? Uneaten food causes alot of cloudiness in the water.

Do you have a filter? 70* is too cold, try and get it up to 78-80*. And if I'm correct your heater is 25 watts, 50 watts is required to heat a 10 gallon.

yay! =D i'm glad he isn't bloated. okay, i'll pick up some plants when i'm out next. (:

i didn't know that, thank you (: i have a gravel vacuum so i'll cut down on removing all of the water when i change the tank.

i do remove uneaten food, so i'm not sure why the water is being so weird.

i don't have a filter yet :( and okay, that solves the problem of the heater. i checked last night and it only heats like.. the very top of the tank. it doesn't heat the bottom.

also good news guys! :D pierce ate a single bloodworm this morning, while flair was on the other side being a glutton. so it looks like things are looking up!

Wow, you actually change 100% out of a 10gal? Automatic kudos to that O_O

But yes, it appears this mystery is solved...

- Grab a filter before you break your arms/back, the tank will then safely cycle in a few weeks, preventing the cloudy water and putting less stress on you and your fish (handsome, by the way!)

- Since hot water rises, an underpowered heater will not be able to heat ALL of the water, and the heated water will stay at the top.

100watts is used for heating 30 gallon tanks. I would recommend swapping to a 50 watt in case something happens to the 100watt while you're not at home :S

*USUALLY* a petstore will let you swap it if you have the receipt still, but not guaranteed.
