Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Missing scales, cotton over one of them, scratch on head, fins missing, red streaks on rays
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? None that I can tell
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Started (what I assume to be tailbiting) back in June, lost scales in the past week or so.
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? No
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Tailbiting
How old is your fish (approximately)? Got him from Petco in early June.

Alright, it's Powder this time. Something's either scratching him up, or he has something eating away at him. He doesn't have finrot. Some pieces of his fins are missing, but I thought he was tailbiting. Nothing in his tank should be doing this to him; he just has some "ruins" that maybe would only do that to him if he was scraping up against them. The thing I'm most worried about is this little cottony thing over one of his missing scales. It's hard to see, because it's white like him.

EDIT: On closer examination, it looks like that "cotton-y growth" is his scale, and it's still holding on by a hair 0__o Like I said, it's hard to tell because he's white. Something's still beating him up though, and it's only started in the past week or so. I haven't changed anything in his tank since I set it up.

Can you get us a piccer? :<

If you suspect columnaris, try using a maracyn I and II combo. The II will treat the columnaris, and the I can help with anything else that may be ailing him that II wont get.

Use salt for now at 2tsp/gallon to make the fuzz harder to stick onto the fish. Then start the meds when youre able to get them. Lights off, keep the feeding up, frequent water changes with the salt and as directed with the meds :<

Thanks. It's too late to go out to get any meds, but I'll see how he's doing in the morning. I just find it weird that he has scales dropping off him...

Yeah, I figure if nothing else it'll keep him from getting infections. Thanks, Hasecsema.
