Advice on cycling a 10 gallon?

When you have ammonia in the tap/source water it is a good idea to use a dechlorinator that will cover ammonia like Prime...you usually don't see any effect of ammonia until 1ppm, however, every Betta can be different to the tolerance level to the ammonia and sometimes it ammonium especially if you have a low pH to start.....

I read here that 0.25ppm of ammonia is lethal. But you sound relieving.
I don't think I have that ammonia->ammonium converting environment as my tap water has a pH of 8.2.
I'm ordering Seachem Prime now.

Okie dokie, I'll just use the dechlorinator that also covers ammonia that I have on hand and buy some prime later whenever I can. I'll start recycling the tank whenever Uno gets over his fin rot.
