Exclamation Fish sitting scare

Hi all, I'm babysitting a male crowntail betta for a friend. I've had him since Saturday evening and she returns to pick him up late Thursday.

Saturday/Sunday "Leroy" was acting normal. Swimming all over, just kind of hanging out. But Monday morning he was laying on the bottom of his tank, barely moving. Since then he has been extremely lethargic, either laying at the bottom of the tank on the marbles or just sitting on top of the tank in a corner at a 45 degree angle, like this "\".

My worries really began this afternoon when he refused to eat a pellet I put in, and repeated attempts to feed him have been unsuccessful. His color seems okay, and he isn't floating on his side or seeming to have trouble swimming when he decides to move, but his extreme laziness and lack of appetite has me concerned.

Some information:
1 gallon tank
Weekly 100% water changes
Aqueon Betta Pellets, about 4 throughout the day.
Not heated, but the temperature has been steady at about 76 degrees.
Not filtered.
Has two silk plants and a small bridge with him.
Checked his water with a dip stick test thingy and all the colors we're in the normal range.

To try to perk him up, I took out about two cups of his water and put in some conditioned, sitting, tap water about 20 minutes ago. Since then he has moved from the bottom of the tank to the top, but is still listless and refuses to eat.

Help! Please! Is it possible he just misses his owner/normal location? Or is this a serious problem?

I just don't want him dead when my friend comes home from vacation.

Yeah, this fish isn't on his side just yet, just nose to the top of the water and floating at a slight angle so his tail is floating downwards.

My tap water is just well water vs her city water

Here's all I know about the poor guy:

Housing
What size is your tank? 1 gallon
What temperature is your tank? About 76
Does your tank have a filter? No
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? No
Is your tank heated? No
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? None

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Betta Pellets
How often do you feed your betta fish? Twice a day, about 2 pellets each time

Maintenance

How often do you perform a water change? Once a week
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 100%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? She doesn't use any as far as I know. Lets the water sit in a britta picture and filters it out for a few days before changing it.

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Ammonia:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Don't know specifics, but a dip stick water test came back okay

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Not that I'm aware of but he's not mine :(
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Less active, sitting in one spot for long periods of time, not eating
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Yesterday morning
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Started changing small amounts of water
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Not that I know of
How old is your fish (approximately)? She's had him about a month so far

Welcome to the forum and sorry you are having a problem with your friends Betta....

Since there is a difference in source water-I would make 10-25% daily water changes for a couple of days and see if this will perk him up

Dose the dechlorinator for the full volume of the tank even with partial water changes and keep the water temp between to new and old water within a couple of degrees so not to temp shock the fish....

In a 1gal unfiltered tank without live plants-it needs twice weekly water changes to maintain water quality...1-50% and 1-100%....

Be sure and remove any uneaten food...and Bettas can go awhile without food so don't worry about him starving...I would hold food for today-make the water change, turn off the light and offer food tomorrow and see if he will eat for you....
