Is this strange behaviour from my betta fish?

Hello all!

First of all, I want to thank you for this great forum and all of the great advice I've discovered on it. It's great to read about caring for betta fish from actual betta owners.

I've had my male Betta fish, Boris, since Saturday. Since yesterday he's been acting a bit strange. When he's not aware of my presence, he seems to alternate between floating at the top and bottom of the tank (mostly the top now). When he knows I'm around though, he's swimming around the tank constantly. Am I being overly worried, or could there be something wrong with my fish? His body and fins look healthy, and I just gave him a 50% water change when I got home from work.

Housing
What size is your tank? 2 gallons
What temperature is your tank? 80F
Does your tank have a filter? No
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? A partially opened jar cover
Is your tank heated? Yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? None

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Pellets
How often do you feed your betta fish? Once per day, 3 pellets

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? three times a week
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? two 50%, one 100%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? tap water conditioner

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?
I have not tested the water.

Ammonia:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? No
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Yes, not swimming around much when he doesn't notice my presence.
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Yesterday.
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Not yet, don't know what's wrong (if anything is).
Does your fish have any history of being ill? N/A
How old is your fish (approximately)? Just got him on Saturday

I saw the pics earlier and he looked fine to me, maybe you just have a layed back fish. What do you have in his tank with him, try rearranging stuff around. He might be bored. I just got a new betta Monday, but he is in a 14 gallon by himself, and he is constantly on the move but he has a lot of places to explore. For some reason I cant see the pics anymore.

Here are the pictures again!

I don't have much in the jar at the moment. I have a silk plant, a betta hammock, and a small, two-level cave-like ornament that he seems to enjoy. What else would be good to add to the tank?

Maybe just rearrange it when you do water changes so it changes it up for him. Mine seems to be obsessed with the heater, maybe put one of those little mirors in there. So he can flair at his reflection.

He doesnt look sick. Colors look good.

Are his fins always clamped like that or dose he clamp up when you take pictures of him?

His fins are often clamped except when he's swimming around.

Thanks for the replies! I'm hoping it's just that Boris is a bit lazy or bored or maybe a bit nervous in his new home. I'll definitely try re-arranging the tank during the next cleaning and maybe tomorrow go to petsmart and see if there's something else I can get in there to amuse him.
