I think I'm paranoid - heater edition

I swear... I am going to worry myself to death soon! Uuugh...

I have only ever used heaters that aren't completely submersible. That's just all I've ever had and I trust them in their sturdiness.
BUT now, I may be getting a submersible one, and a I need a little reassurance
I am scared of something going wrong with the wiring or something coming loose whilst underwater and... zzzaaap.

How confident are you about submersibles?
Anything bad ever happen?
What type of heater do you prefer?

My brother was using submersibles for 30 years. The only problem he ever had was when the Octopus committed suicide by turning up the heat way to much.

Fully submersible heaters are old technology, I would not worry about it.

I am 100% confident in my submersibles. Much better then my other ones. Nothing bad has ever happened with mine. I like the adjustable ones best, no particular brand. I have like 3 different kinds. lol

I've only heard of problems with some of the non-adjustable ones staying stuck-on.

I think if you invest in a good quality adjustable heater and a suction-cup thermometer (glass, not the stick-on strips) you should have no problems :)

Hahaha, it won't electrocute your fish. xD At least I've never heard of a case of that happening.
All of my heaters are fully submersible and they haven't failed me yet!
I suggest getting a heater that you can control the temp. Don't get one of those little heaters that is pre-set.
Make sure you get a thermometer as well. Some heaters have been known to spazz out and fry their fish, so keeping a close check on the temp. is a good idea.

All of my heaters are submersible, i dont like the whole minimum water level thing as its really dry here and water evoperates quickly. I got all but one off ebay and some of them are older models that I don't think are produced anymore. So far none have zapped my fish. The only issue I have is the stupid tetra one is a 50 watt preset one and it cant even heat a 3 gallon tank above 72. I love the marineland neptune one best as its the only one that heats the water to the exact temp I set it too.

Don't worry, I was scared too. It's nerve-wracking doing new things like this, especially when it deals with living things.
