My other vice..the shrimp bowl

I got into this from another forum where one of the members bought a bowl, scaped it and threw in some shrimp. Well I had to take my crack at it and here it is..

It's a 3 gallon bowl from Michaels craft store. The substrate is a 1" layer of Eco Complete. Somewhere in there is a little wood stump. Initially I had a few plantings then added a couple more but in the spirit of let things run their course I would toss clippings in there. It sits by a window, gets four hours of an 8W CFL bulb and I top off the water when the level drops an inch, so about every week. Well.. this is the result.

This was on 7/11

This was taken tonight.. you can see something is going right.

LOL so do my bettas. This bowl exists primarily because Dante and Polo were chasing the shrimp right out of their tanks so I needed to do something. I ran across the thread where the guy made a shrimp bowl and that was where this came from.

Oh they are in there swimming around, foraging constantly. The bowl is bigger than it looks in the pic.
