starting over?

Hey guys. I haven't been on in awhile. Sadly my 1st of the 3 bettas died out of nowhere and I was really upset. I'm getting frustraited with my other tank, which is a planted 10g flitered. The plants have been dying so I took out most of them. I'm thinking I may just take the two bttas out, throw out everything in the tank and start over. Tho id have to cycle it again. My crown tail that always had finrot has a bump on his head and his scales are a little raised. I'm not too concerned because I dd a massive water change and treated both fish for fungus using api powder and it went down. He isn't even phased by it and its a slight rise.


So basically. Should I rip down the tank? How can I cycle it with a few live plants and 2 fish in it? Does this sound like a good idea? I'm sick of all the dead plant pieces in there.
