Ages and Color Patterns

so, it's been a little over two weeks since my last betta died, and on monday, i decided to go out and adopt a new one. (:

i was looking around and i spotted a beautiful halfmoon betta. my first was a veil tail, so this time, i decided why not? (:
but oh, how i wish i could take home every one. haha <3

so, questions. usually, how old are the bettas you find at stores, like petsmart, walmart, and other pet stores?
is there a minimum age they have to be before they put them for sale?
i was just wondering, because i'd like to know how old my little guy is.

prepare for photobomb~ haha

he does have a slight tear and a small hole in his tail, it was like that when i saw him at the store, so hopefully, it'll heal up soon.

so, how old do you think he is? also, what color pattern is he?
i've been trying to figure it out, but i still have no idea. haha

i named him little red. c: hehe i'm praying he lives at least two years with me. my first little guy, felix, lasted only a week. ):
i don't think i can handle another end like that so quickly. so, i'm crossing my fingers. <3

I think generally pet stores sell them at something like 6 months to a year, but it's hard to know for certain. not sure about the color. is he missing a chunk of his dorsal as well? almost looks like he has a mini dorsal in front

yeah, i thought it was strange that he has that little mini fin.
maybe it was part of the original dorsal and it got cut? i don't know,
does the bigger dorsal look a little small to you?

hmm, thanks for your help. c:
how old do you think he is? as for the color, i'm thinking maybe
cambodian or just multicolor. haha
i'm also wondering if he's actually a halfmoon, or if he could
be a delta or super delta. i've never actually seen his fins flare
to where his tail is 180*, so it had me wondering.

audjree, I hate to sound like I'm nitpicking but can you type with larger print? That tiny print is hard for me to read.

Bettas sent to PetSmart are generally around 6-9 months old.
