I just got about $100 or more worth of stuff out of the DUMPSTER at my apartment building!
I went to throw away my dog's evening... deposit. And low and behold there is a 20 gallon (high) tank sitting in my dumpster! This was my face ---->
It wasn't even cracked!!!
Here is what I got:
20 gallon hi
light (with bulb.. haven't plugged it in yet so I don't know if it's working or not)
background (halfway decent one but I'll probably paint it black anyways).
2 filters (Both are penguins.. by marineland.. one is 125 one is 170)
air pump (haven't plugged it in to see if it works)
3 tree decorations with silk leaves... actually kind of cute
stress coat (almost empty though)
small box of aquarium salt (almost full)
tetra tropical flakes (about half full although I'm going to trash them anyways)
topfin water conditioner
I'm in ecstasy! I've never found a tank in the trash and I never expected to find one that was in perfect condition! All it needs is a deep cleaning (I'm going to use a LOT of bleach on this one).
At first I thought I'll use it for my shellie tank (shellie's being Neolamprologus multifasciatus
.. a small shell dwelling species of cichlid I'm preparing to delve into)... but they're bottom dwellers so they'll be happier in a 10 or 20 long. So now I'm thinking either to use it as a grow out or a community tank.
