Wooooooo!!! *dancing* YES!! *fist pumping*

I just got about $100 or more worth of stuff out of the DUMPSTER at my apartment building!

I went to throw away my dog's evening... deposit. And low and behold there is a 20 gallon (high) tank sitting in my dumpster! This was my face ---->

It wasn't even cracked!!!

Here is what I got:

20 gallon hi
lid
light (with bulb.. haven't plugged it in yet so I don't know if it's working or not)
background (halfway decent one but I'll probably paint it black anyways).
2 filters (Both are penguins.. by marineland.. one is 125 one is 170)
air pump (haven't plugged it in to see if it works)
air wand
air line
gravel
3 tree decorations with silk leaves... actually kind of cute
stress coat (almost empty though)
small box of aquarium salt (almost full)
tetra tropical flakes (about half full although I'm going to trash them anyways)
topfin water conditioner

I'm in ecstasy! I've never found a tank in the trash and I never expected to find one that was in perfect condition! All it needs is a deep cleaning (I'm going to use a LOT of bleach on this one).

At first I thought I'll use it for my shellie tank (shellie's being Neolamprologus multifasciatus.. a small shell dwelling species of cichlid I'm preparing to delve into)... but they're bottom dwellers so they'll be happier in a 10 or 20 long. So now I'm thinking either to use it as a grow out or a community tank.

I have NO clue! I could sell this on craigslist and make at least $40 or so. Heck I could sell each of the filters for about $15 apiece (provided they work).

Some people are just so lazy.

My mom says I'm crazy but a free tank is a free tank. I can use all the tanks I can get both small and large. I was actually waiting on an answer from someone who listed a 29 gallon with lights and lid on freecycle but it was already gone (bummer because those are PERFECT growout tanks).

And CodeRed.. I was JUST saying the same thing. Someone else on this forum just found a tank (can't remember who) and I thought to myself that NEVER happens to me :( and BOOM one falls in my lap (or my dumpster I guess). Thank goD for dog poop!!

So lucky, Jackie!!

And don't worry about picking things out of dumpsters, my dad is quite the dumpster diver. Heck, two of our couches are from dumpsters. LOL

Hmm.. so far the light strip is broken but the light works. About to plug in and fill the filters to see what they do. Have to let the air pump dry out before testing it out because it's super wet X.X
