I wanted to be a vet when I grow up, and I've decided to start studying he diferent dieseses of diferent animals. Starting with Bettas. So I'm looking for people that can help me out, and maybe quiz me, and see if I know the treatment and signs of diferent dieseses in betta fish. Thanks for your help!!!

Say a betta was showing symptoms. These particular symptoms were swollen gray belly, lethargic, and staying down on the bottom of the tank. What questions would you ask to further diagnose this betta? Any idea of what it could be?

The best thing you can do is to cruise this site in the emergancy section...

As a starter... here are three examples of my betta's (I know whats wrong with them and they are being treated... I will let you know if you are right)

Example 1:
I just rescued a male betta from walmart who was put in a cup wit another male betta... hes really badly chewed up... what should I do???

Example 2:
I just rescued a betta from Walmart... his cup at walmart was really dirty and had algea in it... his fins are all curled up... whats wrong with him and how do I treat it?

Example 3:
I rescued a pretty female betta from Walmart, her fins are destroyed ad edged in black, she was floating on her sde when got her and she now has trouble swimming to the top of the tank...

Good luck!

Test time xD (These are going in the order posted. I also have notes I look out, like you could on a real test)

1. Are his poop looking normal, or are they white? How much water changes do you do on his tank? I would have to wait for these answers before I could further diagonose him. But my guess right now is parasites

2. Put him in a QT tank with AQ salt, 1 Teaspoon per gallon. Daily water changes.

3. I would say dirty water. I would put get him in a bigger tank, and keep iy dark, so stress stays down. If you have tannins I would put them in. If he doesn't get better, I would put him in a QT tank with espom salt. 1 teaspoon per gallon.

4. I would say fin rot. Put her in a QT tank, with AQ salt. 1 teaspoon per gallon.

Did I get these right?

Wait, I didn't have my notes on hand. So if these are wrong, that's why xD I don't use the notes very often.
