Fish Memory

Who said fish have a memory of 3 seconds? Really, I want to know what excuse for a marine biologist said this? I will assume everyone on this forum is educated enough to know it isn't true! Fish clearly exhibit behavior proving this garbage isn't true. Please rant to your heart's content on this thread!!!!

I know my little boy has a longer memory, he's still keeping his distance being mad at me for catching him for daily water changes last week in QT. Though my fish doesn't have that type of memory, i often wonder about my BF, maybe 30 seconds rather then 3 though. lol.

My bettas after a week or so pick upon me lightly taping the glass meaning "FOOD"

My new fish doesnt know what this means quite yet!

But my older bettas know right away!
Must be memory.. or problem solving..

hmm whats that noise? oh food, let me race as fast as I can to the front surface!

Well, goldfish supposedly can remember things for 2 years. Bettas I'm not sure about- but ever since I brought a new boy home a while ago (like, a good 4 months) for waterchanges, he still keeps his distance. lol They remember things for longer than we think.
