Unhappy Sick or Normal? PLEASE HELP!

Hi guys! OK, so I was feeding my betta, Mr. Jingles, last night, and I noticed something that I don't think is normal. His mouth seems kind of swollen. His mouth is huge now, and I have no idea why! He always has his mouth open now randomly, and I now think that perhaps his mouth is hurting him. Is it a disease, or is it normal? Please help, I'm really worried!!

Yes, if you need accurate help, you gotta fill out the sticky and provide a picture of the swollen mouth to better understand the issue. It's like going to the doctor and only say "I am sick" and expect the precise diagnosis and treatment....it's an impossible task

Hope you get this problem sorted out soon! Good luck!

No, I can't get a picture.... Whenever I hold up my camera to him he throws himself into the glass of the tank...... I think he hurt himself doing that, so I can't get a picture, I'm so sorry!!!!! He won't even sit still!!

Yeah...some bettas just hate the camera. One of mine flares whenever he sees it, and the other is just nonchalant about it lol

Hmmm.....it is always a good idea to know what size your tank is for the sake of treatment. (sorry, I don't know how to access your album, plus one can't be too sure the volume of something just by looking at pictures) May be try to use one of the measuring cup or bottled water containers to check how much water you have got in there?

What is your room temperature set at? It is always a good idea to invest in a little thermometer inside the fish tank.

I know some people like flake food, but the pellets are generally more neat and clean and easy to eat and won't mess up the tank water. But it is definitely a personal choice :)

You only add water, what kind of water since it's not tap water? Sounds like you don't use any de-chlorinators to your water to neutralize the chlorine and chloramines.

I am sure one of the experts will come to your rescue soon. So hang in there!
