Flare Buddies!

Ok, so all my male betta tanks are in a line on my shelf, they're all carded and once a day I un-card them to have a bit of a flaring match..
Now what is weird is my boy Zuko flares up a storm but only at Tranny. I tried flaring him with Mao, Mao flares a bit but then Zuko isn't interested, he does a little wiggle dance and goes away.. I tried flaring him with a mirror and he just got a bit freaked out (although that may have been because of my fingers, he has a love hate relationship with them XD).
The only time he will flare completely and dance around and be all zippy is with Tranny... Is Tranny his flare buddy? Is it because Tranny acts equally aggressive? Are they in love? Who knows..

Do any of your boys have "flare buddies" too?

Maybe he thinks Tranny is a girl too and wants to mate with him. Hmmm. Sounds very cute though.
My boy doesn't have a flaring buddy, but he likes looking at his reflection against the filter and flaring at himself. He's become a little tough guy lately. Ever since he had time in QT.

Lol! Thats so cute! I love it when they flare at stuff like filters and thermometers XD Tranny flares at everything! And I hope what you said isn't true, I really want to breed Zuko someday -___- and Tranny will not be pleased hehehe, he's tried so hard to be the complete man fish!

Poor little boy. I hope it's just a bromance and nothing to involved for the sake of you breeding Zuko. My little guy, Squeak has a little ceramic bird propped near his tank that a couple times I have seen him swimming around like he's flirting with it. I thought that was cute, but of course once I had my camera ready he stopped.
