Betta moved into new tank- Coloring is off- May be sick?

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Wishy's color seems a little dull, Fins seem a little clamped
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Normal behavior- very social, playful
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Since moving into new tank
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? No, Don't know what is wrong, and how to fix it. Doing daily water changes- I was told that would help
Does your fish have any history of being ill? No
How old is your fish (approximately)? Had Wishy for 2 months, Not sure how old he is.

PS- The petsmart I bought him from didn't give me hardly any info...when asked if I needed a heater, etc- they said no. I am purchasing a heater, and a regular filter this week, as well as a testing kit- Forgot the test kit at the store. Doing the best I can at the moment..But I'm afraid because his color is a little dull that he might be sick? though he is acting totally normal...Thank you for any help!! This is my 2.5 year old daughters fish- She loves him so much- So I am trying very hard to keep him healthy and happy for her.

Wishy has been in his tank for 6 days now. I have never started a tank, and the pet store didn't give me the best information....I trusted them when they said that because Betta's are tough that they can be put into the tank right away. THAT was wrong as far as I know now. But anyways- He was a little sluggish for the first couple of days- Now he's back to normal (personality wise) only difference, is his color is a bit duller than usual. I don't have a car- so rushing to the store is a little complicated...but I will have a regular filter, etc- in the next couple of days. The store told me the undergravel one was okay...Guess not Stupid store.

That might be the problem.. Maybe the light is freaking him out? Try keeping it off for a day maybe? See if it helps...

Sometimes it takes a while for them to adjust to the light. Sometimes leaving the light on tends to make fish "lighten" thier color to adjust to thier surroundings. Otherwise he is probably just getting used to his new diggs.
