API AQ salt with ES?

I just did my every 4th day 100% water change on my little guy leonard (3 gal filterd/heated tank). After getting done I noticed he has early signs of Dropsy!(bloated grey belly and mildly swollen eyes along with less energy) :(
So my question is, since I put the AQ salt in during the water change, is it safe to add epsom salt as well? or should I wait a few hrs, change the water again and then add just ES?

thanks!

Unsure the answer to your specific question, but have one of my own.. do you put in AQ salt with every water change?

no, I have been doing it this past 10 days or so because he is just getting over a tail biting spree. which is now healing almost completely and i think he has quit biting it, so I do not plan to continue AQ salt. it was temporary.

Actually, if it's dropsy, I would change the water 100% and use only ES, AQ salt, from what I've read, can hurt fish with dropsy.

Did a search and came up with this: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=71494

I would first, if you can, post some pictures? Fill out that form they have stickied and make sure it's dropsy. Would hate to stress him out and put him through more then needed. :( Otherwise, I think if you waited a few hours it should be ok, just keep him in a darker place for a bit after to keep him settled.

Hi sielkirk90 - Myates is correct, you don't want to mix the salts. I would start a *new* thread specifically asking if your little guy has dropsy. Fill out the form and post a pic (if you can). There are a lot of great people who can help you diagnose your little guy, and then direct you on the correct drugs to administer. This current thread is asking salt questions, so you may not get all the hits you need because you really have a diagnosis question. Good luck!!
