Angry Rant, rant, rant!

sorry 'bout this, folks. i gotta make a rant here. i usually try to avoid this, and keep it on my Facebook, but i can't hold it in any longer, and gotta rant somewhere that doesn't have a limit to how long things can be.

what's with people thinking, they can house male bettas together, or males and females together? are they REALLY, THAT stupid, that the name "Siamese FIGHTING Fish" doesn't register to them?! i see it ALL the time on Youtube! "well, i've had these two male bettas together for about three months, and they haven't fought yet. they seem to be living peacefully, so......."..... really? so, why is that male, flaring at the other? or, why is male #2, just chilling, clamped, at the bottom of the tank, and the clearly dominant male, watching him like a hawk as he goes up for air? or, why are they both flaring, and have CHUNKS missing from their tails?! c'mon, people! do a little RESEARCH before you just buy two bettas and plop them in the tank together! this frustrates me..... actually, this frustrates me more than seeing Plakat fighter videos, but less than dumb guys thinking it's "cool" to buy two veiltails and fight them. :/ i'm not saying fighting is good, but at least the plakat fighters don't let their fish DIE, and separate them once one male submits to the other. :/ they're not dumb kids who don't know jack about bettas, who thinks it's awesome to see two fish fight, and get mad when they don't.

the male and female tanks are bad for many reasons. one, they both will still fight. and, two, you may end up with hundreds of fry you aren't prepared for.

i think this is what my next video is gonna be about. anyone have any pics of JUST how many bettas they may end up with if they keep their male and female housed together? :/ i'm REALLY looking to show them how many babies ONE pair of bettas can make.

People in general the normal person is 75% stupid about bettas except the ones that study and go to forums. People in reality just think they can defy nature which is wrong and most people only realize they're wrong after a poor pet has died.

I actually read a question on petsmart.com if you can keep males & females together acourse when I was trying to direct them here and to my website and say it was wrong a less informative answer was shown by someone else. "That said just no". I wish that people listen but like I said above its only after the first pet has died and then go to find in info on there pet. Which is absolutely ridiculous!

I don't think people being ignorant is the biggest problem. I think if they just had no clue, they'd be a lot more likely to take the time to figure things out. I think the main problem is people (mainly non knowledgeable pet shop employees) that go around spreading FALSE information. then people assume that they're doing things properly and don't go trying to find information till their fish ends up getting sick or injured

i was told from the start, that they can't be kept together. we were ignorant about proper care, but knew enough to know that males can't be kept with males, and didn't even know about females, or thought they were ugly)this was back when females weren't popular, because everyone thought they were ugly brown). most of the people i've seen, don't say they were told they can't be kept together, they just plopped them together, and when i try to tell them otherwise, no matter how polite i am, they argue that "they havent' fought yet" or "it depends on the betta! i never keep two aggressive males together, just peaceful males!". .____. ALL males can be aggressive, but 99% are aggressive to other bettas. some may tolerate other fish, but never a male betta.

I recall seeing this idiot who had been posting video's of his fish being kept in awful conditions (Half gallon tank overstocked with a school of TETRA'S with a VT.) And you know what he did to heighten his stupidity? Put two males together for the vid. He got so many flames from everyone I just decided to keep quiet...I did send him a disturbing chain letter though.

some people are stupid that way. :/ i can usually tell a troll from someone who doesn't know, from a fighter, from someone who's actually that stupid, just by listening to the video/watching the video. fighters, PK fighters, i just dislike and flag. the a-holes who think it's cool and funny to fight veils(who are NOT bred to fight, but for their beauty), it depends on my mood. if i'm in a bad mood, i'll cuss them out. o3o if i'm not, i'll just quietly dislike and flag flag and move on.

I agree, there is more stupidity in the world than air! People should get a licence to have kids and pets. Unfortunately nothing we can do about it and for most people bettas are just a fish. I even tried to tell my coworkers that's not fair to keep betta in small vase without frequent water changes. At the end, I was the bad person telling the what to do and blamed for having control issues. As I always say, you can explain donkey he/she is a donkey!!!

Only thing I can compare this to is pit bulls. I moved to MS and when I saw the horror of how dogs in general were treated, I started a pit rescue. U wouldn't begin to believe how many people allowed intact males to be alone with each other and came home to injured or dead dogs. Or they left males and females alone and puppies ended up in shelters. It was overwhelming at times. But I never gave up try.g to educate. Hell, I figure if u can save ONE you have done some good.

that's part of why i want my next dog to be a shelter rescue. i have it planned out already. i want an older dog, and probably a black dog. pit or pit mix, if i can. maybe a shyer dog. since none of those really get adopted(older dogs, black dogs, pits or pit mixes, nor shy dogs), i figure, if i can combine those, i'll be saving someone who'll never get adopted. :d
