Help! Betta won't eat!!

so my betta of 2 days isn't eating at all :/
i feed him TetraBetta Betta Bits (pellets). he keeps rushing to the food but when he swallows the food, he spits it back out and just lets it sink to the gravel. im worried about him please help!

May want to post in the emergency/sick part of the forum. But what it sounds like is that the pellets may be too large for him. So you can either try cutting them in half, or what I do at times and soak what you are going to feed him in water or garlic juice (which they will go nuts for) before feeding them to make it easier for them to chew/swallow.
Fish of all types and sizes use the spit out method when food is either too big or too hard for them to take it all in at once. It's normal and natural and usually they will go down to the bottom of the tank later and eat it after it is softened. So may just soak or break them prior and see if that helps any. If he still refuses, as I mentioned before, soak a few in garlic juice and they are worse then cats with catnip, love it. Good luck!

Also if none of that works, give him another day or two to relax.. sometimes with a move/new home they are too stressed to eat for a few days.

I'm in the same boat right now. Got my betta Saturday, and he hasn't eaten yet. I just picked up some flakes to try in case he prefers them to pellets.

Dont worry :) My betta HATES TetraBetta! Try flakes instead. Worked for my stubborn betta.

just bought some blackworms and he goes BERSERK for them. i guess i gotta feed them this for a while. :D

As long as they aren't freeze dried.. FD food have no nutrients. A few days, even a week of no eating after bringing a new betta home is pretty common. Try a different brand of pellets/flakes as well, some are just picky lol

If you've only had your betta for a few days don't worry. It's taken some on this forum two weeks to get a new betta to nom. Just offer him one pellet a day, removing after 5-10 minutes so nothing will pollute the water. Don't start worrying yet.
