I tried looking for the maracyn but the store didn't have any! i'll try a chain like petland then.

the white looks like white glow sticks. it is really eye catching and glistening.
the red comes and goes.

his head is originally black and it is coming back now slowly. it's up to his eyes (from above lips) and goes down the lip along the gill lines

one more thing- when i got him, i thought it was cool that he had amazing colors and black spots to boot. the other day i read that black flecks were a sign of some sort of illness. do bettas not come spotted?

Hmm. I think the white may be natural iridescence showing. At least that's my guess because I've never heard of any illnesses where the white looks like glow sticks. Sounds pretty. And it depends on how big the black specks are. Are they kind of like big dots or little black specks that could be external parasites? If they were external parasites, I would expect to see some reddening or swelling around the black specks. One of my girls has black specks on her and it's natural. I believe, though I might be wrong, that bettas who are spotted are called dalmatian or freckled.
