Hm, hopefully someone will enlighten us on the BettaFix issue. I'll stop using it if it's bad for him though, and just keep using the Aquarium salt with water changes :)

Some Walmarts do a decent jobs, but others are absolutely terrible. Once, I left a note (HEY! They left the marker and paper towel out!), that cleverly stated, "F*&^ YOU FISH KILLERS!" and probably said something about the employees being worthless, lazy, and unfeeling. I have a picture of it somewhere. I hope it made someone feel guilty... and I hope a lottttt of customers saw it! I taped it RIGHT ABOVE all of the betta fish :)

I have hard that if you do use bettafix its better to use less then the recommended dosage because it can damage the laberynth organ.

Almost all of my bettas came from walmart with different issues. The others from petco with even worse issues

The Walmart here IS pretty awful. However, I went to Petco the next day to pick up some stuff to help Cedric and all the bettas were absolutely immaculate. There was not a single ill-looking one, and they each had their own little shelf instead of being all piled onto one. It was so nice to see! They even had a variety of fin types, which was really surprising.
