My new buddy, Charlie Chaplin!!!

The link won't work, but the fish in my avatar is Charlie Chaplin, my new Betta. He's currently in a one gallon tank with a heater, but I'm upgrading him as soon as I get the money. :) He's a Walmart rescue.

Hi, welcome to the forum! Congrats on your new betta buddy. I doubt you'll have just one for long. I have 4 now. :) Good for you, already planning to upgrade. And also kudos for having a heater. :)

I'm getting a 5.5 gallon in about a week. It's used, but comes with everything it originally came with, and a bridge. i have a feeling that as much as he swims around, he'll love the bridge. :)

I changed his water today, and took out the old filter (since a one gallon isn't really big enough for a filter, anyways...) and put in another plant....this is the current setup, and he seems to love it.

What a great size tank. 5.5 gallons will give him lots of room to move around. :) Just make sure you clean it reeeeally well when you get it.

Definitely. It'll probably sit for half an hour with his new setup so that water conditioner can work and everything before transferring him.

If you have a heater in it, you might want to let it run for at least 4 hours so the temp can stabilize. If you have a filter, let it sit for 24 hours. :) And make sure you bleach the decor, get new gravel, etc. if it's been used. :)

Thanks! :) I'll definitely do that. I was thinking a 10:90 bleach to water ratio? Or would you recommend higher since it's used?

I think that's the right ratio. :) Good job.
