How do I change the water without disturbing the bubble nest?

I've had my betta for a about month and a half now, and I've been doing daily 50% water changes using a sipohon (so I could get all the poopy water from the bottom out)without any problems until this morning when I found a couple clusters of bubble nests, one clinging to the glass, another to a lucky bamboo leaf. Im really not sure how I'm going to be able to getting around popping it. Any ideas? is it the end of the world if I do end up messing it up?

I ALWAYS think this! My bettas like to make a GIANT bubblenest right before I change their water.

I think they do it to spite me.

Sometimes they can survive intact if you're careful. My betta's nest survived a water change - I think partly because I used a reverse siphon to put the water back in.

However, as OFL said, they'll get over it and build another ^_^

i also do 50wc with a siphon hose and suitable sized container. it disturbs the nest a bit but 80% remains intact. though in may case there isnt much obstruction as the water level drop on the buble nest.

If you're especially deft with your hands you can try to scoop the nest into a small cup and then carefully pour it back in after the water change. But they do get over it and will build another one.
