Normal Pattern for Fin Rot?

I got my new Betta this past Sunday. Yesterday i noticed his fins were actually falling off! I looked it up and i think he has Fin Rot! I got some medicine today and i'm going to start treating him tomorrow. I took pictures the day i got him, when his fins were falling off and current. I was looking back at them and it's wierd. The fins fell of in a exact line, like it was ment too. It actually looks better now that it has fallen off! I attached pictures below. Is this normal for Fin Rot?

First Picture (Day i got him)
Seconed Picture (Day his fins fell off)
Third Picture (Tonight)

That actually looks like tail biting to me, not fin rot. Fin rot usually has dark edges and progresses slower, not overnight like that. If you answer the questions in the sticky, we can help you better. Whats the tank temp, size, water change schedule, food, etc like?

To treat tail biting you just add aquarium salt so that it doesn't get infected, keep them well fed and their tank clean, and hope they cut it out!

I would just try clean water and aquarium salt before medication. He could just have been stressed from the move. If he bit his tail, be sure to feed him, make sure he gets light and dark. Does he have any decorations or anything? Sometimes they tail bite out of boredom.

He has tons of fake plants, places to hide and this one decoration he loves playing in. I also put a mirror by his tank every now and then.

If he does tail bite, Why would his tail be bitten in a straight line and not bite size chunks?

Since he's a plakat, he probably can't get that much. my chronic tailbiter always bites his into a line like that, sometimes they look raggedy, shredded, or just have a few pieces missing. I'm not saying it's not rot, it just really doesn't look like it to me.

Tomorrow i'm going to do a water change and change the filter cartrage. I won't give him the medicine since he already is looking better. Hopefully it's not rot. Thank you for your help!

Oh good, and you're welcome. Just btw, another thing that made me think it was tail biting is how it looks a bit recovered in the third picture. If you feed him a high protein diet (most of us do already, i just feed mine a little extra after biting) and add a little extra conditioner or other slime coat-y thing, it can help the fins recover.

I have to agree, it looks like he might have bitten his tail, and is now experiencing some nice regrowth.
