Thank you all so very much for the welcome and advice!

I took a little while to answer because classes just started up, but I took all of it to heart. (and paper... I wrote a lot down!)

Actually, we experienced a bit of a crisis just a day after I got him. Long story short, his 5.5 gallon tank SPLIT down one side. I scooped him into temp and got a replacement... Petco was very apologetic and made up the difference for a 10 gallon, hood and filter. Kimchi transitioned really well and he's just as lively as ever. I'll throw a few new pictures up, too!

Our story enters with my girlfriend and I headed to Barnes & Noble to buy a book. It was out of stock and we figured, for the hell of it we would troop next door to the petco
That gets me every time. Trip to BN and then next door to go "shoppylifting" with my dog...and now I have 16 of them Although most of them are from walmart which is a short walk in the other direction...

Nothing like fresh water and space to cheer up a sad Betta :) What a good heart you have - he probably thinks he died and went straight to Betta heaven! He has had his fair share of stress, hopefully no more cups and spiltting tanks...that must have been a nasty shock!

It was terrifying! I was in panic mode. ( Though Kimchi thought my desperate attempts to hold the glass together would eventually produce food, and cheered me on with lots of pokes and wiggles. )

Right? I already feel the pull to just 'go browse' at the pet store. Funny how I feel the need to make a cash withdrawal before doing so...(:

It sure peps them up quickly! I know before this all happened, my opinion of bettas was something along the lines of 'quiet and impersonal'. Saddening to think, now, that the reason for this is because all that I saw were miserable or sick in such dirty water.

( speaking of dirty water, the new tank is cycling well! 20% changes every day with conditioner and now Amquel. The first day he was a little lethargic, but adding the amquel to his water changes changed that immediately. Any other suggestions, anyone? )

Also, I included a video for you guys! (;

Excuse the obnoxious voices - that's my girl and I. Heh.
