Bad Boys!

Grrr...just had to rescue Phoenix because Dragon decided that he didn't like his side of the tank. Far as I can tell Phoenix wasn't injured..there's no ripped fins or anything. This just happened maybe 10 minutes ago. I lowered the water level a bit so it was harder to jump over the divider...have any of your boys ever jumped into the other side of a divided tank? Is this common occurance?

Mine have not, but I do have a good 2-3 inches of space where the divider sticks out of the water.

Yeah there was about 1/2 inch on mine...I've lowered the water level to about 1.5 inches.

I have a lot of plant cover and the water level is an inch and a half lower than the divider plus the divider itself isn't see through.. I've heard a lot of plant cover helps to prevent jumping. :) In my previous divided my female got under the divider and beat up my male XD

I just lowered the water lvl again because Dragon seems determined to get to Phoenix...I didn't think they even had long term memory. The divider is completely black so he can't see Phoenix. I have to wonder if there is a chemical or somethng that is tell Dragon that Phoenix is there. What do you guys think?

I think they can sense each other's hormones in the water, so I guess he realises there's something there.. Or he's just really curious. :/ Maybe you could try putting a mesh down the middle covering both sides halfway from the top like a roof very snug on the divider, so one can't jump and get to the other..

ok bad news...Dragon got over again even though the water level is about 3 inches below the devider. I've got Phoenix in his cup and setting up my one gallon to put him in. Dragon is too aggressive I think for any males to be near him.
