Inbreeding Questions

Ok, so, I've read a few things off of this forum and a few things on the forum that supports breeding fathers to daughters and brothers and sisters. Now, I'm very new to fish breeding, but I know horse breeding and dog breeding and in those, inbreeding is a no no (unless you look at more famous 'line' breeding though it's resulted in crazy horses and the 'lines' are either VERY saught out, or VERY feared)

So...what are the rules of inbreeding fish? (particularly bettas lol)

well bettas are not mammals. i know you can't inbreed too much or you will get deformed fry.

Inbreeding is how we got those dog, horse and betta breeds.
It secures traits
However, after too many generations of inbreeding the animals will tend to get infertile and the chance of deformities will ioncrease.
So inbreeding is good and even necessary in carefully managed doses but if you go crazy and overdose then the quality of your animals will go downhill.

From my experience breeding guppies, I'd inbreed 3 generations to cement a trait then add in new blood to the mix to get the next shape I wanted. Breeding beyond 3 generations is too much I think and I would not recommend that.
