Marineland 150 Watt Submersible Heater

A local petstore was running a clearance sell and I picked this up for $12.

I've read the instructions, but it doesn't say if the heater can be put in horizontally. The only indicator is a picture that shows it submerged vertically, and if this is the only way it can be mounted I can't use it because it is too long for my tank.

How big is your tank? You can use it at an angle or horizontally, unless otherwise specified.. But if it is for a small tank the wattage would be too much..

It is 5 gallons. There is a chart on the box that has 5 gallons listed as a tank size for it.

I misread the chart. It has wattage recommendations for each gallon size, and if 50 watts are recommended for a 10 gallon, then 150 watts are way too much for my 5 gallon tank.

Oh well. I'll just save the heater for when I get a bigger tank.

Im glad I decided to look this up first. I was going to immediately place this heater in my 5 gallon tank and move its heater to my temporary 2.5 gallon tank.

I don't see "stealth" anywhere on the box. The only thing outside of 150 Watt Submersible is "visi-therm".
