A question about heaters...

I was just wondering if anyone that uses heaters in their tanks, replaces them every so often instead of waiting for them to get worn out or start to act wonky? Also, if so, how many years would you suggest using a heater from the time you buy it to replacing it? I was thinking about this because I only just started using a Tetra 2-15 heater for my 10gal about two years ago and it's still working fine. I just got another one for my 5 gallon divided I just re-set up so I it just got me thinking about it is all. ^_^

I am using heaters that are probably 10-20 years old. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
However, today's heaters might not be the same quality? Just hard to say.
