Floating banana plant?

Hello everyone.
So I recently moved everyone to college with me and everyone is doing wonderful (especially the bettas, they LOVE it here) except for the banana plants. They started riding upward and today they're floating. They have never done that before and I'm not sure what it means...Thanks for any info. :)

I just threw them out as they were making the water weird. So advice for anyone else: When they start floating they're probably rotten.

Some just float others float when certain water conditions are met..

If they begin to get FOUL smelling (like, awful!), dull out in color, have slime-like coatings on the tubers, etc, they cannot be saved.

I can't smell but they were starting to look ill and the leaves had fallen off and they starting to get something black on them that my snails wouldn't eat. But my local Petco did just get a new shipment in so I may try again.
