What happened?

You know Silver?
Well, he passed away the day before yesterday. I went to check on him (I had jus gotten home from a football game and was going to clean his tank) and I found him twisted up against the wall. I freaked.
He was dead! His face looked swollen, and behind his flare-things (dont know what they are called) it was black and puffy. His stomach was black and green.
What the heck happened to him? It almost looked like his stomach exploded...
I would've taken pictures, but I was too sad and since I was crying, I couldn't of gotten any good shots anyways.

Sorry for your loss......its hard to say what happened.....and you really can't go by what the fish looked liked after they had been dead for very long since they start to decomp the second they die......past history may help....
How big was the tank, how much and how often was the water changes and when was the last one, water temp, filter, live plants, additives used, tank mates, appetite, how long did you have him in this tank, had he ever been sick and/or treated, if so, explain...source water...well water, bottled water, R/O etc....if tap water-was a water softening unit used either whole house or one tap, brita type....etc.....

Again sorry for your loss.....maybe we can figure out what happened with some more information...sometimes you will never know....

Well, he was very lethargic. He used to be in a 2.5 gallon tank, but when he got what looked like ammonia burn, I moved him into a 1/2 gallon. The third day (counting the day that I cleaned the tank) he died.
