Percy only has the chance to make bubble nests at night (when the air powered filter is turned off) but he decides not to. He used to make then a little bit, but now he doesn't and he hasn't done since.. phew I dunno. A while ago.

O_o what's an air powered filter ? ...

i thought it's not good to turn filters off .. since the good bacteria's will die off in like 6 hrs or something ?

no they don't. x: my crowntail, Zidane, makes a huge bubble nest after every water change, and my new Veiltail, Scout, hasns't stopped working on a monster nest since i got him. it's a sign that they're healthy males(or in some cases, females). but, not making a nest doesn't mean they're not healthy. my Delta, Ichi, rarely, if ever makes one, and my blind HMPK makes one once in a while. why would a blind betta make one, when he can't breed?

i have 5 bettas for the time being..:) 2 females and 3 males. the smallest one only makes the nests if something is on the surface of the water. my oldest one has made a few since i got him 3 months ago but stopped making them. when he got a bigger tank and then began nipping his fins.

now the next male i believe has a mental disability, he never sleeps. even when the lights turn off i see his darkened body moving around. never made a nest. does the same exact movements everyday. hence why i think he has a mental problem. but he does chase a laser pointer around.

A filter which is powered by an air pump and produces bubbles.

And my filter has carbon and zeolite in it, which actively absorbs Ammonia, so there is in theory no need for bacteria. I test my water vigilantly just in case the zeolite stops working but it never does. I still to plenty of water changes just in case. I love water changes..
