Smile Patrick

So I went to Petco for gravel and you know how that goes. Alot of the bettas were dead or almost dead, picked up this delta tail and he gave me attitude so I fell in love. Hard to see, he's a bit camera shy.

Oh crap. He's not looking well at all. Still in his pineapple kind of lopsided.

Not sure what I did wrong. Acclimated him slowly, conditioned water.

Oh! He's out again swimming around!

He's in a 3 gallon, 80 degrees, heater and sponge filter. Have to run out again for test strips (I bought a combo pack and all I have left is the ammonia strips ).

I had this tank set up for my original betta but poor guy is still in his two gallon.

I acclimated him over several hours, floating and adding a bit of tank water here and there.

He may just be a little stressed....who knows how long he was in that little dirty cup, you know? Maybe just turn off the lights and let him be for a little bit....hopefully he'll settle in soon.

Oh, and I would suggest ditching the strips....they're horribly inaccurate. Instead, try and pick up a Liquid test kit, API brand if they have it. You may have to drop a few extra bucks on it up front, but it has 800 tests for everything you could possibly need/want to test for....plus its accurate. In the long run, it will actually save you money as it will last you a lot longer then the strips as well.
