betta at the top of the tank?

so umi wont swim to the bottom of his tank. hes always right next to the top? any ideas why?

Has he ever attempted to go to the bottom of the tank? Did he struggle? Does he float on his sides?

idk if its strugling or not but, iv seen him kinda float on his sides sometimes and hes only been to the bottom once that ive seen.

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Not hes new so he might still be stressedish
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Floating at top, wont explore lower half of tanka and sometimes floates on his side for a few seconds
When did you start noticing the symptoms? yesterday
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? I don’t know what to treat for but iv put some AQ salt in the tank
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Brandnew so idk
How old is your fish (approximately)? No clue

It might be a swim bladder issue, and if that's the case you won't want aq salt in with him.

You're changing your water an awful lot. 50% every other day? Or is it every other week? If your tank is cycled, I don't see a reason to change it so often unless you keep getting ammonia and nitrite spikes. With a filter and 2 bettas you probably only need to change around 30% weekly.

For now, try presoaking his food in some tank water before giving it to him to see if he doesn't just have air in his digestive tract. If that doesn't work out within a day or two, qt him (makes water changes easier) and premix 1 tsp/gal of epsom salt and change his water every day. His cup should work out just fine for qt since he shouldn't be in it for too long. He'll need to be in the epsom salt water for a few days full time for it to be effective.

thank you for the advice guys but sadly he was dead when iwoke up this morning, i have NO clue what happend with him. maybe stress and stuff i really dont know :(
