I believe 5 is the minimum amount, but stocking really is dependant upon the tank size.

Would 5 girls be happy in a 7 or 8 gal? I'm limited on space, but want a sorority

I think it's too small, but I could be mistaken

Currently I have 4 in a 10 gallon. I started out with 6 but one was way to agressive and I found one dead These 4 get along rather well, so i may not add another girl to it.

how big is your tank? I think its a max of 12 for a 20 gallon and 6 for a 20 gallon??

I haven't gotten the tank yet, but due to space restrictions I think I'm going to end up with something between 10-15

Sticky on top of this forum section......
Sorority...

You don't want anything less then a 10 gal due to it needing to be HEAVILY planted with hiding spaces. Which means less room per fish. You should do no less then 5, 6 in a sorority. You may be able to do 5 in a 10 gal.. but a 7 gal you said you would probably get due to space.. you really don't want to do a sorority in it.

It's already difficult and a big risk making a sorority, so adding more stress isn't a good thing. Whatever you decide, good luck and read the sticky =)
