Help? Mysterious thing appears in water...

Okay, so I was doing a water change for my betta, as usual. I had some trouble with the siphon, so I wasn't paying attention to Remi (my betta), who I put in his Petsmart cup with a few bloodworms (that I watched him eat). When I turned back to put him into the tank, there's this mysterious thing in there that wasn't in the first place. He doesn't seem any different, and I put him back in his tank. He wasn't eating it or anything... Is this some part of him? Please help. Thanks

Betta: Male Halfmoon I've had for exactly a week
Tank: 1.8 gallon
Food: Topfin pellets (2 pellets twice a day) and San Francisco Bay frozen bloodworms (twice a week)
Thing: Doesn't float, dark red and dark green (sort of the color of his pellets), slightly squishy

The thing is still in the cup with tank water right now, and I left it the way I saw it.

I don't think it's too big for a poop. I'm almost certain it's a poop. The situation you described makes me practically 100% sure it's just a big poop.

I have a boy right now who was constipated for a 2 days, but his poop today is massive (3 tsp/gal of epsom salt to help him since he tends to have such problems on top of fasting).

Sounds like your guy just had to go and couldn't wait to be back in his tank. the bloodworms might have helped push it out too.

I'm likely to agree it's poop too because my betta was constipated a few days ago and I fed him a pea. The next day there was a massive thing exactly like that in his Qtank except that it had part of the pea stuck in it (sorry to be gross). It actually looked like the tiny snail I have in my tank and I had to make sure and locate him to make sure he hadn't found his way into the qtank that was floating inside the big tank. lol
