Trying to figure out

I'm pretty sure my guy is a mustard gas VT..

I'm new to the forums, just starting to feed my long time love for bettas..

What exactly classifies the color as mustard gas?? I want to know everything about my guy.

He's in a temp home for now, searching for the perfect place at the moment, and I haven't been able to get a great picture of him to post, so I thought I'd ask if there is a list or anything I can compare him to in the meantime.

Thanks!

Hi there, welcome to the forum!!! Mustard gas bettas usually have a dark body (usually blue, black, purple, or turqoise) and yellow fins (or more of an orange). Here's a picture of my mustard gas veil-tail female, Daisy, for reference =)

Sorry, the pic isn't that great, but she's a black and yellow mustard gas with blue iridescence =)

Freddy thinks Daisy is some purdy!

Thank you! This was taken after he nearly killed himself, he's usually a royal blue and yellow lol Green is his stressed out color.

I'm pretty sure my guy is a MGVT. I can't get him to give me a good picture! the ones i get his fins are much darker then in real life. I can't believe this picture is of my Lover (which is his name, I'm not that strange ;]) This looks like a totally diff fish, dull kinda gray, when you look at him in real life hes chocolatey body, and his fins are light peach/tangarine color with little streaks of teal. waaaaaay prettier then in the pic!

This is my son's fish, Hero:

Wow, I think you actually have what's called a Chocolate. They have brown bodies and those light, butter yellow fins. He's gorgeous, and kinda rare!!! You don't see chocolate colored bettas very often!!! Your blue butterfly is pretty too, he's sooooo blue!!!

really?? I got both of them from a friend of mine who is saving them from walmarts.. she currently has 6 and 2 of her friends have 10-15 each! I was telling her that i've owned bettas before, and that i really really wanted a chocolate beta! If he is choco I'm super super excited.. I was thinking MG bcuz he's got teal iridescence along the base of his fins, and when the light hits him from behind they have a peachy tint. maybe i was just trying to not get overly excited he is so brown!! YAY!!

Hero, the blue one has such a personality, he loves my son to sing to him and tell him stories. Hero gets a bedtime story and a good morning song and he just daaaaances :]
