Aww sorry one of your new little guys is having problems Sakura! He's a cute one too. Do you think it would help to feed medicated pellets maybe if you don't want to give a heavier med right off the bat? It helped PTG greatly when he had swim bladder. I think you can do that while keeping him in the epsom salts for the 10 days.

I hope something helps him soon. The poor things look so pitiful when they are lying on their sides like that!

Sakura- I hope the little guy is doing better! One of my boys, Chester, has chronic SBD and is forever living in a hospital tank. I have had him for 6 months now and he has surprised me with his will to live. He will go through phases where he floats like your little one for as long as a week before he gets himself under control. Feeding, water changes, stress, and god knows what else trigger it back as soon as its gone. Just when I start to wonder if I should consider euthanize, he bounces out of it and seems happy.

SVC, Tokala, Fighter, thanks. He's still floating but for the moment at least he's floating upright. I don't think he's eaten anything I've left in there yet but I'm going to try to leave a pellet for him. He still can't dive but he tries every time I open the lid of his tank. He's kind of a skittery little dude.

Tokala, thanks for telling me about your guy. Now I know not to give up hope on this little fellow.

SVC, as soon as I can get him to eat, I think I'm going to try the medicated pellets like you suggest.

Fighter, I was thinking of naming him Bobby or Buoy 'cause he just bobs like a, er, buoy but I kinda like McFloaty Floatsalot.

General Floaty McFloatsalot?

Then again, if he's in water, he should be an admiral.

He looks like a floating plant, just hanging there. But when he tries to dive down it's almost pitifully comical because he just scrambles for the bottom and then floats right back up. He's admiral of a submarine that can't dive!
