Sudden Color loss and being lathargic.

Last night i went to bed, feeling happy about how i just got new heaters, and new plants for my fish. During the night i noticed on of my fish got lathargic and was hiding in his treasure chest, but shrugged it off thinking he was stressed becuase he just got changed into a new tank he also did this when i put him into a new tank when i first got him. Well i woke up this morning and now both fish are lathargic, and staying at the top, and one of them has clamped fins and color loss. I use the same net for them.

How has your betta fish's appearance changed? One has become dull in color almost over night
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? One is extreamly lathargic and stays near the top of the tank the other is lathargic but but darts around.
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Somewhere around last night for one fish, this morning for the other
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Not yet, i don't own any salts or medications yet, if its anything serious i will go out today.
Does your fish have any history of being ill? no.
How old is your fish (approximately)? I've had one for three to five months the other for two to three months.

Hmm, maybe he's freaked about about the new things in his tank... Maybe you should try cleaning the tank twice a week. And when you change the water, before you put the fish in, maybe you should put some conditioner in the water. I hope he gets better!

Are you sure you added the water conditioner? Did you use a different water source (sink vs tub tap)? Did you increase the temp slowly?

I was going to ask the same questions as DarkMoon. It sounds like it could be an issue with the water.

Well i some what figured out it might have been a plant i put in the water, it made the water smell bad , so i changed the water immediatly, the water tempture did go up slowly and i'm sure i added conditoner, i always use tap water from the kitchen sink. Even if they are just stressed, would aquarium salt help in calming them down?
